“Lovely hotel with superb service”

We stayed at Hotel Parco Smeraldo at the recommendation of one of my wife's colleagues. It is a lovely property on a beautiful island. The level of service here is much, much higher than even top--tier hotels elsewhere in the world generally provide. I imagine this is because the staff here take pride in their work, and demand a high level of professionalism from new employees. Getting to and from the hotel is not easy; Ischia is a mountainous island, and it is a 30-60 minute drive along narrow, winding roads to reach it. The benefit is those roads provide some sweeping and beautiful views. The hotel can arrange transfers to and from the ferry, and I recommend using their service. It would be challenging to figure out the process without local knowledge. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Daily maid service is effective without being intrusive. I did have some problems with mosquitos at night, but keeping the balcony doors closed helped solve that. Food is good, as is normal for Italy. There are several beachfront restaurants within a short walk from the hotel, of varying quality. My recommendation among these is Ottomano. The pool is comfortably warm, and gets quite busy during peak sunbathing hours. Some guests seem to go out early in the morning and drape their towels over chaise lounges and then go back to bed for hours before utilizing the chairs. Wine selection was outstanding, with many local finds. Cocktails were also top-notch. I will take a moment to reiterate how good the service is, from the front desk staff down to all levels of the operation. It was a pleasure to experience.

“Back in time and don't want to go back”

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and it was not enough... My big dream and beloved movie was to experience at least a little bit of the incredible energy of the movie Avanti! I had no idea how successful I was here - we went back in time - to the perfect and hospitable men who carry women's suitcases, shake hands and introduce themselves. To the women who knock on the door and with the perfect PERMESSO? they are waiting for your AVANTI! in uniforms that look like they came out of this movie even after 50 years and they are just asking if everything is ok. Beautiful and quiet rooms, beautiful architecture, great pools, location in peace and quiet and yet next to the warmest beach. Special thanks to the perfect lady from the wellness reception and the entire spa. The fact that she guided us and showed us the "production" of the mud, but she also became a shared person for me, who was great at mediating, sharing and sharing. Even with my fear and broken English, I was looking forward to it and how we would talk. Thank you may everyone know the beautiful hospitality and beauty of this place, your beautiful country and a completely original magical island - a mother, who, in the spark of fire, washes with miraculous nurturing water those who want to rest in her arms...

“Relaxing and beautiful!”

“Something out of a dream”

We didn’t want our stay to end! (Like literally tried to figure out how to stay more days, and another woman we spoke to tried to do the same.) The service and the staff were impeccable - the concierges are so helpful and attentive. It is small enough that you come to recognize all the staff and vice versa, as well as the other guests, which is a nice change from large commercial hotels. The grounds are beautiful and so well cared for. The outdoor and indoor pools are outstanding. It’s definitely a quiet and restorative hotel - there were kids at the hotel, but the pool was very quiet, no jumping in and no throwing toys, roughhousing/splashing etc. Seems like maybe more of a European custom. The beach area is spacious and we never had any issue getting chairs. We stayed at the apartments which were very nice, especially the porch, about a 3-5 min walk away along the beach path. If you were at a big resort, you could easily walk that far to get to the pool - so it didn’t bother us at all. There is loud music playing at a beach club next to the apartments, but it also didn’t bother us as long as the doors were closed and AC was on. You might want to bring earplugs if you’re in the apartments. Breakfast is a delicious buffet, and the staff immediately remembered our preferences for our coffee each morning. The bartender also always remembered our afternoon cocktail orders and our room number. Miriam and Monica at the Corallium Spa are wonderful! Definitely cash in on your free voucher for a mud mask - it will get you hooked on the spa! If you’ve ever watched the Grand Budapest Hotel and imagined it in its glory, that’s what this hotel feels like.

We picked this hotel as it seemed to offer real quality. We were not disappointed. If you want flashy, trashy facades, "edgy" designer rooms & gimmicks, go somewhere else. If you want REAL service, terrific staff who REALLY care that you are enjoying your stay and who are totally professional in all they do, then stay here. Our sea view room as a good size with plenty of hanging space in the wardrobes, a decent shower and the balcony complete with seats and a table to enjoy the moment. After a fairly traumatic few months my wife & I just wanted to relax, be pampered and enjoy some sun. We were not disappointed. The sea view room meant that we could watch the posh yachts, the sunrise and the sunsets from the comfort of the balcony. The salt water pool was bliss with the chairs with tables or sun loungers nearby and the private beach just steps away from the main hotel really makes the place special. Having lovely staff looking after you for drinks whilst enjoying the sun was a lovely bonus. The restaurant and KalaKala bistro offer superb food with a wide selection of Neopolitan & Italian dishes. We tried several new Italian dishes & loved every one. The service in the restaurant is highly efficient, but the waiters are like swans, gliding amongst the tables calmly whilst beneath I'm sure it is organised bedlam. This is not a location for benidorm types who want to get a sunbed at 4am with a noisy disco until 3am and cheap booze in abundance. This is a location for the discerning types who want real quality accommodation, food and most of all service from staff who really enjoy making your stay memorable. We used the spa as well and again found the staff wonderfully friendly as well as being incredibly professional.
