Just returned from a week staying here. Read all the reviews before we left and agree with some. Positives : great position; short walk to a choice of many different restaurants, beach 5-10 minute walk, supermarket 5 minute walk. Apartment clean and equipped for easy meals. (We only used the toaster kettle and a pan to boil eggs :-)) Plenty of VERY hot water with a decent shower. Good air conditioner but in lounge area only. Lovely pool with bar. Ample sunbeds and a few umbrellas. Not so positive: arrived at 11:00 to be told room check in is 3pm! But to be fair they took our number and called us when room was ready. Left cases and went for a wander. More of a moan about TUI than the apartments, having had a 6:10 flight thinking you’d have a full day at the resort! We were in block C second floor. No lift so lugging cases up 2 flights of stairs was a challenge especially as the stairs are scarily unsafe with rotten wobbly handrails. These really do need attention. Agree the beds so uncomfortable we pulled the bedsettee out and slept in the lounge. Better sleep after that, added bonus of being closer to the air conditioner. What I think would make a difference? Mend the stair rails, tidy up the pool area, the paint work is shocking, invest in some mattress toppers. Tidy or remove the broken and sealed off children’s play area. A real eyesore Did we get what we paid for? Yes and we had a fab time but the accommodation could be so much better with just a little bit of money spent. Hope this review helps

“Cheap, basic but clean and welcoming.”

We stayed here for a week. Me, hubby, daughter and granddaughter. Yes it is a two star apartment block. We read the reviews and they are pretty accurate. For what we paid the accommodation was about what we expected. Reception staff were lovely. Very friendly and helpful. There are three blocks. We were in block A on the first floor facing the reception building. As reception is only one storey we had fabulous views over the sea. Our balcony was in the shade most of the day but we got the sun early evening and a lovely sunset view. The balcony is small. Only two people can sit out at a time. Windows and balcony doors are wooden and single glazed and have seen better days. All the windows had shutters that you could open/close as preferred. If the day was breezy and you have more than one door or window open the wind slams the internal doors shut. We propped doors open with cushions and chairs. Sofa covering and curtains all looked pretty new. Walls were clean and looked freshly painted. Some of the furniture and doors had deterioration at floor level where either the room had flooded at some point or from mopping the floor regularly. Table and chairs in kitchen area, sofa and coffee table in sitting area with a long cupboard which the TV sat on. Sofa not very comfortable so used pillows to soften it up a bit. Basic wardrobes and hangers in both bedrooms. Double bed in one room and two singles in the other. Beds were very uncomfortable for us. We requested extra pillows which came very quickly. The mattresses however were some of the worst ones we have experienced on holiday. We used the spare blankets to try and make them a bit more comfortable. Kitchen area had two hob rings and a mini oven. The oven had one shelf and you could cook half a pizza at a time. There was also a microwave, toaster and kettle. Basic kitchen utensils, pans and cutlery. Basic kitchen cupboards in need of upgrading. Washing up items of cloth, sponge, towel and washing up liquid were supplied as well as a mop, bucket and sweeping brush. These were useful for cleaning up after a two year old. We never had any ants in the apartment and we followed the instructions and kept all food in the fridge. The bathroom was small but the shower area was big with enough hot water and a fairly decent water pressure. The towels were the best hotel towels I have ever had. Nice and thick and of a decent size. The cleaner came in once mid week. The pool area is nice and clean with a little pool bar that does snacks. We went every day to the pool for an hour or so at different times of the day. There were always sunbeds available. It was a lovely peaceful area. We also went a couple of times to the pool areas in the sister hotel. That was busier but again we always got sunbeds. The hotel is near the beach and lots of amazing restaurants to choose from. We hired a car to visit different places and always found a place to park near our block when we returned. We would definitely stay in that area again and if the hotel started doing nicer mattresses or offered mattress toppers to make them more comfortable we would stay here again

“Basic and tired, but we will be back!”

We stayed here for a last minute get away from the British weather in the May half term holiday. We were not disappointed. We stayed here for a last minute get away from the British weather in the May half term holiday. We were not disappointed. To get the honest negatives out of the way, the apartments do have a slightly dark and dated appearance, but they were clean. The balconies are small but workable. Our apartment was cleaned once in 6 nights we were there, but apart from the bin being full and no bin liners, we were fine with this. The reception is only open 10-6 so if you arrive early or later, you do have to check in at Isla paraiso (only a 3 minute walk). Our room door sometimes did not lock, and our key cards stopped working a total of 3 times in 6 days where we were temporarily locked out of our apartment! But staff were very quick to rectify this issue for us, and new keys were issued or the maintenance staff were at the apartment before we could even return from reception. Staff were friendly and happy to help. Particularly the waitress on the pool bar during our stay. We visited the sister hotel for drinks twice and the staff seemed very nice here also. It was a pleasant walk downhill to the most beautifully clean beach we’ve been to. (Highly recommend la paella for food and drinks the staff here are so friendly). We found ourselves at the sa Mirada pool every day, and our kids would spend hours playing in the pool which was so quiet and peaceful. There were always sunbeds free whatever the time of day, and it was clean. I am really missing the peace and quiet of this place and would love to holiday here again instead of a more lively hotel. Overall, despite some of the issues encountered (mainly because of the apartments being old and in need of a little TLC in places but I fully expected this of a 2* hotel) it was an absolutely fantastic, and relaxing stay. The whole feel of the place was very relaxed.The children loved it, and I would still highly recommend it to anyone.

Our room was clean and spacious, it is basic but it had everything we needed for our stay. We spent a lot of time by the pool which had beautiful views. Would recommend.

“Dated and tired”

The San Mirada isn't great. It's the poor relative of the other Seth hotel in Arenal d'en Castell. The San Mirada isn't great. It's the poor relative of the other Seth hotel in Arenal d'en Castell. Here's the reasons: We arrived in extreme heat and the air condition didn't work. 1st the batteries to operated it had run out (a trip to reception) and then again when the batteries were replaced, it still didn't work and it was like a sauna in our room as the gas had run out (another trip to reception to sort). This should have been tested before we arrived!!!! Basic customer service!!!! The next thing to go wrong was the flush on our loo - 2 trips to reception and they still didn't fix it. When have a young child you obviously have to stay in when they are in bed. The blue couch they put in the room was excruciating uncomfortable so we could sit in and enjoy a quiet drink together so had to sit on our bed. The maids came to clean the room twice in 10 days! They did clean the apartment but the bathroom had engraved filth including human hair, unmentionable stains and squashed mosquitos with blood stains left on the walls from a previous resident. The main door lock had been put upside down. The fridge was rusty and and very noisy. There was a safe but no key was left. The signs on the apartment were incorrect. When we arrived, we went right to the top of complex to find room 612 and then realised that they'd put the wrong numbers on the front of our apartment and had to come all the way back with three cases and hand luggage. The reception area is only open during office hours which is no use for guest needing to use it outside this time. The bar area by the pool is awful and closes at 6pm prompt. The girl running can't be bothered being there and it shows but she does inflict her awful music taste by playing with new r and b music all singing with a voice box constantly being played. Choose something most guests will like not 18 year old only doing the job before going to uni. The restaurant is closed permanently and blinds permanently down. If you want to use the sister Seth hotel you can walk a good 10 mins to do so (not fine) One good thing about this hotel was the view from the apartment-great sea views and pool area is good too but not enough sun umbrellas to go around for the amount of sun loungers there. Basic really! I wouldn't stay here again as this hotel is 2 stars not as Tui rate it as 3 stars. It needs some serious attention to bring it up to even 3 star standards. Quite poor really and not a Tui rep in site during you stay to air your feedback.
