After completing the Camino, this was the perfect place for some r&r. The location is great, the concept unusual and worth supporting (see other posts re history of hotel) as it's nice to see innovative use of existing properties and especially keeping the commercialisation of a beautiful area to a minimum - no high rises here. The staff were excellent, very friendly and accommodating, both brothers in this family run hotel speaking goof English and making it easier for me with my very limited Spanish. The food was also excellent, particularly the entrecôte and the padron peppers. Excellent wine if the region also. The facilities were perfect, lovely outdoor pool area and sun loungers. The hotel is located in a wooded area, with a river running through it. So makes for some lovely walks. There are plenty if fish in the river - if that sport catches your fancy. A car is necessary to get around and Noia is a short distance away. The hotel is an ideal base for touring along the coast and taking in the sights of the western part of Galicia. Santiago is within reasonable distance to make a day trip. I couldn't fault anything during my stay and would definitely go back or recommend this hotel to others. Enjoy your stay and I only wish I could be there!

“Very Interesting idea, nicely done.”

Good room, nice staff, good food. Very interesting idea, an abandoned village built for 80 workers on a hydro electric power station. Once computerised the staff were no longer needed and village abandoned. Stone houses refurbished 10 years ago and they have created a nice place. River side setting… lisää

Good room, nice staff, good food. Very interesting idea, an abandoned village built for 80 workers on a hydro electric power station. Once computerised the staff were no longer needed and village abandoned. Stone houses refurbished 10 years ago and they have created a nice place. River side setting of main building with reception and "high" rooms is lovely. Picnic area, walks, loads of activities. Hum during the day from plant but didn't bother us. If you are not in a high room you will have to shuttle between you room and reception (and pool, picnic area etc.) in your car in a very steep but pretty 2km drive. If you don't have a terrace / outside space in your room, not all do, this might not work for you, as it didn't for us, as we wanted to chill out for a few hours in the day sitting outside. The hotel were very understanding of this and didn't quibble when we left a day early. In summary, I'd make sure you get a high room down by reception, or a room with a terrace if you don't mind shuttling up and down in your car if you will be hanging out.

“Quick drink after visiting the disused Hydroelectric plant ”

This hotel is what used to be the accommodation for the workers at the abandoned Centrica Hidrolectrica plant next door.
