I stayed at this hotel with my wife. I had read some of the poor reviews and was very anxious about going. However we found the hotel to be absolutely fine. You need to put into perspective that this is a budget hotel, it's no good expecting champagne service but wanting to pay lemonade prices! The hotel was spotless and we had room service everyday. We found all the staff the be helpfull and friendly. The food was a little repetitive, but was both well prepared and presented and we enjoyed all the meals we had. The pool was clean and we never had any problems getting sunbeds. The rooms are a little on the small side, but are spotless with excellent showers. Hanging space is very limited so be prepared to live out of a suitcase, but it's fine once you adapt. The location was good short walk into Santa Susanna, right by the train station, we never had any issues with noise or trouble and the square outside was not "full of homeless or drug gangs" as some reviews suggest. This hotel is most suited to couples as there isn't much for children to do. it does cater for more elderly Spanish and French people but we found that to be part of its charm. Altogether a very relaxing week spent by the pool or visiting the area. I think for the price it's very good value and would be more than happy to stay here again.

This is, as advertised, a budget hotel - you definitely only got what you paid for. Husband and I booked all inclusive, food was ok, it was quite repetitive and I was disappointed with the selection of desserts. This is, as advertised, a budget hotel - you definitely only got what you paid for. Husband and I booked all inclusive, food was ok, it was quite repetitive and I was disappointed with the selection of desserts. You had these silly blue tokens for the bar that you had to give to receive your drinks and then got the tokens back at the end of the night when you handed your cups back?? And we never found out where to get the snacks through the afternoon. Room was small, not much place for clothing and it didn’t get cleaned despite us asking twice in the week - all they did was change towels and empty the bathroom bin. Pool area was small, loungers could do with more cleaning, a few times I went to use one and there was bird muck from the pigeons. Disappointed there were no loungers on the beach which is shalley, not sure if that changes in the higher season. Entertainment was just a DJ, female DJ was extremely loud, I did see a lot of people complaining to the bar staff. Nothing for the children. Most disappointing part of the hotel was the staff - they were extremely rude especially reception and bar staff. Checking in was just awful, nothing explained other than a piece of paper slammed down in front of you with times of food and your door key and wrist bands. I will say the guys in the dining room who took your room number at meal times always smiled and said good morning/evening etc. location wise was good , literally a minute walk onto the front with an abundance of shops and bars, however not much to do tourist wise in Malgrat itself. The train station is right outside the hotel with really good links, we had a good day out to Barcelona. However I would advise that there are drug dealers out the front of the station and my husband did even get asked if he wanted to buy anything when we were having a stroll along the front one evening and it was only about 8pm. It advertises free WIFI in the hotel and although we logged on ok nothing ever loaded up and it just kept disconnecting. We actually got better free WIFI out on the sea front! We booked with Love Holidays and paid for transfers - be warned the coach does drop you off up on a main road away from the hotel as there isn’t any access for coaches down to the hotel, but our driver gave great directions and it was only a 7 minute walk. We had a relaxing week which was our intention but we wouldn’t go back to this hotel or Malgrat.
