This was our first trip of a family of 5 with kids ages 1, 4 and 7. We stayed in a deluxe family suite and did not upgrade to preferred status because that would have made us end up with a smaller room based on availability at the time. We loved the food, particularly our dinners at Fusion and Seaside Grill. The buffet was ok, our kids liked it but I thought it was typical buffet food. Our kids loved using the pool and the staff was wonderful, even remembering my son's order of a shirley temple and the lifeguard giving my daughter a beautiful flower. Some cocktails were stronger than others but that was ok since we defnitely had our fill :). Our room was in an odd position to make it to meals, the pool and beach with our stroller so there was a lot of walking--I do wish we had been slightly closer to the elevator. We were also close to the entertainment which we loved, but was a little noisy for our baby but we had a white noise machine and it all worked out. I recommend that if you have a baby, you pack dish soap to wash any bottles. I also recommend packing conditioner as the hotel shampoo is a 2 in one. The beach is lovely, but there was quite a bit of seaweed during our stay, despite the best efforts of the removal from the beach. Make sure you check the resort activities for kids! My daughter did a pianting class, and they had an outdoor movie during our stay, The kids loved their visit to the kids club. We would definitely go back or check out another Dreams!

My rating of "Dreams Punta Cana" was rated against my 2 previous experiences visiting other properties. The positives: 1. Food: the food is some of the best I've ever eaten specifically at the "World Cafe" and "Hibachi." Portfino's (Italian), Oceana (Seafood), and Steakhouse are "ok." Don't go into those expecting to be "wowed." 2. Rooms & Property: rooms are small but comfortable. Definitely time for a modernization makeover. The property is absolutely gorgeous and this is uniquely one of the properties that allows you to leave and conduct local shopping in town. When exiting "Dreams," take right and a 1/2 mile down is a local shopping center. 3. Customer Service: EVERYONE on the property aims to please. Always said good morning/ goodnight with a smile and remembered our names which is even more impressive. Recommendations: 1. When booking on properties i.e. romantic dinners, Photo shoots etc...KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS. My wife and I booked a family beach dinner that had a 2 bottle wine purchase. The dinner was unfortunately canceled due to potential rain and the reservations were changed to the Oceana (who didn't get the memo and were not expecting us). On top of that, we were charged for a bottle of wine which was already paid for. The Conceirge (Manuel) made everything all good! Definite Must Sees: 1. Bavaro - Maria is the best and her food is impeccable. Ruddy (@puntacanaruddy) was excellent tour guide! Give that man a raise! 2. Hoyo Azul - Cannot describe in words. Go see for yourself but it's going to be a hike but worth it!

“Beautiful property, very outdated rooms and average food.”

Our family of 5 spent a week here in mid-June. Negatives: Rooms are tiny, outdated and lacking outlets and seating space. Bathrooms are gross. Pool and wooden bridges need attention/repair. Missing pool tiles, lights hanging off in the pool, wood/paint peeling off bridges. No beach/pool towels… lisää

Our family of 5 spent a week here in mid-June. Negatives: Rooms are tiny, outdated and lacking outlets and seating space. Bathrooms are gross. Pool and wooden bridges need attention/repair. Missing pool tiles, lights hanging off in the pool, wood/paint peeling off bridges. No beach/pool towels available a few of the days. Even first thing in the morning. We ended up hanging on to our 5 towels all week. Food very subpar compared to other Mexico/DR all inclusive resorts. Should really offer grilled chicken breasts or skirt steak options for meals. Himatsu display meal didn't offer typical show moves/jokes/tossing of food, no shrimp included, just soggy grouper. 3 of 5 in party had GI issues towards end of trip/upon return. Evening local vendors sold goods for prices above what the resort gift shop charged. Room keys for one of our rooms stopped working twice, long, hot walk back to lobby to get new ones. Positives: Grounds are lovely, especially fun to see flamingoes roaming. Large and winding pools for privacy/space. No reservations or waits in restaurants. Beach pizza was good for daily lunches. Drink staff was amazing, especially Yolanda who served our family all week by the pool! She was amazing! Rooms were very comfortable temperature, best a/c and ceiling fan in any tropical resort we've stayed in. Beach is beautiful. Minimal seaweed and calm water (though kids would've preferred bigger waves for bodysurfing. Coffee shop served great blended and iced drinks, short lines in the morning. Overall, I expected much more from a Dreams property and was disappointed by the rooms and food for the price we paid. But the beach and pools were beautiful and staff was friendly. Just not worth the price we paid and did not meet expectations from this brand of resorts. Was still a nice family vacation though.

I should’ve done more research before committing to this resort. The rooms are very outdated and smelled like mold. We saw huge holes in the wall and closets. There were also roaches on the balcony. We wished there were more options for the kids like a water park where parents can stay with their children (yes, my error for not doing more research). Food is okay - no other seafood than fish. We ate at the buffet mostly everyday as it’s the same exact food at the restaurants just served to you. Pools were grimey and you can see the mold. Explorers club ladies were amazing and the kids had a great time.
