Really enjoyed our stay at Lagarta Lodge. The location and views (once you've negotiated the terrible road from Nosara to reach it) are absolutely stunning, and the hotel and its grounds are delightful - well maintained, spotlessly clean with very comfortable and functional rooms. Amazing, too, to be able to see birds, howler monkeys and other wildlife just from our balcony, and also to be able to visit the adjacent nature reserve. The local beaches and Nosara provided excellent opportunities for walking, supplemented by the hotel shuttle and local tuk-tuks when the ascent back to the hotel was too much. All of the staff with whom we had contact were, without exception, fantastic - friendly, helpful and very customer-focused. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of choice, but if I had to find fault with the hotel I would say that their dinner menu was somewhat limited and also expensive. However, that certainly wouldn't stop us returning to Lagata Lodge if the opportunity arose!

Absolutely outstanding! The experience began with the fantastic location and was only enhanced by the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. Absolutely outstanding! The experience began with the fantastic location and was only enhanced by the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the spacious rooms with their high ceilings provided a wonderful atmosphere to unwind. The fast internet was a great advantage, and those exceptionally comfortable beds and fluffy pillows made our stay even more enjoyable. Additionally, the available transportation options and the variety of excursion programs truly enriched our visit. This place exceeded all our expectations! Highly recommend!

Lagarta Lodge offers the best for what Costa Rica is famous for: untouched nature ( do not be surprised in the morning to face a group of manteled Howler monkeys on the tree just outside your bathroom window), views of an endless beach stretching below the Lodge, the slow flowing brown waters of the Nosara river winding towards the Pacific and the “Reserva Biologica” belonging to the Lodge allowing hikes in a n unspoilt tropical forest. Last but not least: almost unreal sunsets over the vast Pacific ocean, spacious rooms with large terraces, dedicated hotel staff and a very good kitchen. Costa Rica at its best.

Overall, I recommend this hotel. The best thing about it was the amazing views (especially from the infinity pool), the room (except the bathroom), the swim-up bar, and the pools. Overall, I recommend this hotel. The best thing about it was the amazing views (especially from the infinity pool), the room (except the bathroom), the swim-up bar, and the pools. The issues I had were mostly minor, including 1) The bathrooms in the room weren’t properly cleaned, but otherwise, the rooms were nice. The bathrooms also had insufficient cooling, but the room temperature was great. 2) There was never enough lukewarm or hot water for two people to shower briefly. The water was always cold. 3) Certain staff, such as Cesar, were unpleasant (I would suggest he receive further training on hospitality and treatment of paying guests), while other staff, such as Daniel, were great in helping find ways to make my trip memorable. 4) The food was decent but much better elsewhere and way too expensive compared to meals outside the hotel. 5) The drinks were watered down compared to other hotels. 6) All of the excursions and transportation offered by the hotel were astronomically higher than using an outside vendor. Despite these things, I enjoyed my experience and would highly recommend a visit here.
