You know not to expect too much in any hotel in Caracas without paying a fortune, but I found the Savoy had character, it was clean, and above all very safe. You know not to expect too much in any hotel in Caracas without paying a fortune, but I found the Savoy had character, it was clean, and above all very safe. The A/C worked great, beds were comfortable, it was clean and the TV worked. There was free internet in the lobby with not too long a wait and the food in the restaurant was great! Breakfast included with decent arepas. The concierge was really helpful getting us directions (we took the subway a lot) and getting us a reliable cab to the Teleferico and later to the airport. A great funky old hotel in an other wise nasty city.

Caracas is a strange place. Because the exchange rate varies so much depending on where you go, it's hard to know how much anything costs, from the internet it appears as though every hotel in Caracas is SUPER expensive. Not so, I paid about $50 USD per night here (breakfast included). It certainly… lisää

Caracas is a strange place. Because the exchange rate varies so much depending on where you go, it's hard to know how much anything costs, from the internet it appears as though every hotel in Caracas is SUPER expensive. Not so, I paid about $50 USD per night here (breakfast included). It certainly isn't luxurious, but the air-conditioning worked great, it's centrally located, it has a restaurant, the wifi was slow, but it worked. Serious security here, which is necessary because Caracas is a bit dangerous at night. In the daytime though it was a short walk to Sabana Grande, a shopping street with no shortage of shoe stores. This is a very average and adequate hotel.
