“Excellent stay for business trip to Cambridge, MA”

I was looking for a quiet room for a business trip to Cambridge, MA, and this hotel was excellent for that. The room (a studio with extra couch bed) had a clean kitchenette and lots of space. It was really huge. The hotel staff were very accommodating and allowed me to park and check-in early when I arrived earlier than I had planned. There is a small shop near the front desk that sells a small range of food and other items you might expect in a convenience store setting. I did not eat at the bar/restaurant in the hotel; there are a variety of dining options near the hotel. The excellent room, service, and convenience of being in Cambridge ensure I would select this hotel again when doing business in Cambridge, MA. The only cons from my perspective are more a criticism of all hotels in Boston than a criticism about this particular hotel. Namely: hotel taxes and parking charges throughout the Boston area are, in my view, very high. Please confirm your total charges when planning a trip to Boston as you decide to visit there. No one is hiding these fees, but they may be unexpected for folks not used to paying, in some cases, about $90.00 per day in assorted taxes and parking charges on top of the room charge. Each day I paid a total of about $40.00 for four different city/hotel/tourism taxes and about $50.00 for parking. Frankly, I would visit Boston more often if it were not for all these extra fees that I don’t encounter on the same scale when I visit other cities. Again, this is not a criticism of this particular hotel, but fees like this are part of the experience/cost of staying in many hotels in Boston.

“Comfortable basic hotel”

We stayed 6 nights while visiting Boston and Cambridge and doing the usual sightseeing activities. The location is great being a block from the Kendall T station. The $22 weekly T pass is a bargain! This is a business/office area so during the week the guests were mostly business travelers and it switched to families during the weekend. Downside is a lot of the restaurants nearby close early or are closed on weekends. The room was spacious and had a nice sitting and kitchen area including a full-size refrigerator. It was nice to be able to get takeout and not eat on the bed. Housekeeping was great and the room was clean. Breakfast had a nice variety and staff made an effort to keep the eating areas clean although this could be challenging on weekends. Noise from the hallway was minimal even though we were near the elevator. However there is an active construction site across the street. Also the sink drain would make weird gurgling/dripping noises when someone was using the shower in another room. There is no door between the sink area and the bed, so this woke us up a couple of times. (Toilet and shower are in a closed room). The $25 daily destination fee is annoying. You can only apply the credit to the hotel bar that is open during the evening. We were not at the hotel when this was open some nights so we had no way of using our credit. It would be nice if it could be applied to the "convenience store" on site. Otherwise there are not a lot of amenities at the hotel to justify this fee. Overall a decent, nicely maintained hotel well located for sightseeing.

An excellent location at Kendall Square just a block or two from MIT. Modern property. Rooms are spacious. Staff is great. We had a problem with our reservation and the staff did a terrific job fixing it. Only reservation is the very very crowded breakfast area. Today there was a line of people waiting in the lobby to get in and when you got into the eating area there isn't enough space to sit. There was literally a mob scene of people trying to get to the food. The management tried to cope. It opened up a large conference room for people to sit and have their breakfast. I am not sure what the hotel can do about this.

“$25 Daily Destination Fee ? What an Affront”
We are Lifetime Marriott Platinum and were staying on points to minimize the high cost of staying in Cambridge. We are Lifetime Marriott Platinum and were staying on points to minimize the high cost of staying in Cambridge. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower pressure average. However, the room was missing many of the most basic toiletries and amenities for the small kitchen. Yes, we had soap and the coffee machine was fully stocked, we just think management has decided not to stock other items that you find in most other Marriott properties. The daily complimentary breakfast was good and with a variety of choices. All staff that we encountered throughout our stay were wonderful. Upon checking in, we were charged a daily $25 “Destination Fee.” Of course we were given options for credit redemption; bar, food bike rental, etc. However, I was not expecting this kind of financial “Ambush” and this fee alone will cause me to stay somewhere else next time.

“Over-priced, but okay”
Some snafus and misinformation at check-in because of one particular desk agent, but we weathered that thanks to the other better informed staff. Suites are big, very clean, but more geared toward business travelers who will be working in their room on a computer. Lots of workspace and outlets but… lisää
Some snafus and misinformation at check-in because of one particular desk agent, but we weathered that thanks to the other better informed staff. Suites are big, very clean, but more geared toward business travelers who will be working in their room on a computer. Lots of workspace and outlets but not a single luggage rack or anywhere to put an open carry-on suitcase (much less 2, as we were a couple sharing this room). Noisy AC roars all night. Tired towels. For over $600, I would have expected a few extras such as slippers or even robes, bottled water, hand lotion and shower caps, but there's none of that. Kitchenette is very minimally appointed. Housekeeper Danielle is a rare gem! Great location for our purpose, which was a wedding on the MIT campus.
