“Right place right time”

We were cycling the Danube cycle trail and arrived at this place after a day of solid rain. The cycle path was not so good in places and we and the bikes were covered in a thick layer of fine beige grit that was starting to set into a solid crust. Arriving at the Gastof, we must have looked like a lot of bother for Jacob. But quite the opposite, he showed us where we could clean the bikes and was a real friend to us. The whole place had been flooded throughout in 2012 and they were barely recovered from it. Once cleaned up, the beer and conversation started flowing. The evening meal was delightful and good value. We stayed there two nights (we had a day off in Passau) and the second night was as good as the first - and Jacob joined us for schnapps. A very decent and good guy. Of the hotel itself, the rooms are just the job - big enough to spread out clothes to dry, although I accept that wouldn't be everyone's main criterion of a room's worth. Very good sleep.

“Excellent traditional German hotel”

Just about everything about this hotel is really good. Second time we have stayed here, rooms on both occasions have ben really nice, large with interesting aspects and furniture. Very comfortable. Restaurant / bar area is traditional German, good food and beer brewed on-site, very good. Breakfast … lisää

Just about everything about this hotel is really good. Second time we have stayed here, rooms on both occasions have ben really nice, large with interesting aspects and furniture. Very comfortable. Restaurant / bar area is traditional German, good food and beer brewed on-site, very good. Breakfast is cold but with a good range of food. Owner and staff are all very friendly and helpful. Parking at the rear of property, free Wi-Fi, really attractive building in a very nice little town. No lift but only 1 set of reasonable gradient stairs. Will be staying here again.

“Inviting”

We spent many a day in Munich, but our room in Wessling was our little oasis when we were done for the day. The train line was just a short walk away and so convenient. The house staff was wonderful and accomodating. Ray had a wonderful breakfast buffet ready every morning. The food in the rest… lisää

We spent many a day in Munich, but our room in Wessling was our little oasis when we were done for the day. The train line was just a short walk away and so convenient. The house staff was wonderful and accomodating. Ray had a wonderful breakfast buffet ready every morning. The food in the restaurant is wonderful. We will return.

“Pleasant guesthouse, shame about our room”

We stayed for 1 night prior to a river cruise from Passau. Whilst the guesthouse was very pleasant and brightly decorated, whilst retaining its original charm, with good food and beer and very friendly staff, we were given a room towards the back of the hotel which was quite bare and basic, with n… lisää

We stayed for 1 night prior to a river cruise from Passau. Whilst the guesthouse was very pleasant and brightly decorated, whilst retaining its original charm, with good food and beer and very friendly staff, we were given a room towards the back of the hotel which was quite bare and basic, with no heating & very intermittent WiFi access. Our room was so different to what I remembered from the website when making the booking I even checked it was the same hotel I'd originally seen! Maybe we were given this room as we had 2 small dogs with us, I'm not sure as we did see several other dogs while we were there. It's a nice guesthouse but I'd suggest you double check which room you're given when you make your reservation.
