The Schmidt Mönnikes is a very simple hotel without any thrills. In fact, the single bedroom features indeed just a single bed, and the room's style reminded me of a dormitory for the working class. However, I received the warmest welcome when I checked in late in the evening, and the receptionist was very caring and accommodating. This was no exception. I must have been the last dinner guest in their restaurant and my meal was prepared exactly to my liking, with staff checking up on me twice. The best was still to come: I was picked up by a business partner in the morning, and it seemed natural to the hotel staff to provide him with coffee and a plate for breakfast at no extra cost. I don't see that extent of service often!

Myself and my two friends Des King and Dave King stayed in this wonderful hotel nothing was a problem everything was provided the breakfast was varied and to everybody's taste because it is situated on a main road there is noise but ear plugs were provided but not necessary as the noise from the road could not be heard all in all a really nice experience and a great weekend in Bochum that was made better by the staff in this lovely hotel my name isAlan Wright and what a weekend

All staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Mrs. Thoma who also exuded happiness. The restaurant had a nice choice of meals at very acceptable prices and quality. The room was small but adequate if somewhat noisy from traffic outside. The hotel is located at the junction of two roads, one being quite busy. The nearness of several motorways makes it easy to access the rest of the Ruhr area. There was a very pleasant buffet breakfast. My main problem was the internet speed, which was sometimes very satisfactory but often enough frustratingly slow. In our modern days, there is really no excuse for this.
