“Friendly hotel”

Lovely hotel which was very clean and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Breakfasts were good with lots of choice and the dinners were good value with very tasty food. Five minutes walk from the sanctuary and plenty of places to eat nearby

We stayed for one week during Easter and were very happy with our choice given the many, many hotels in Fatima. It was immaculate, modernistic and our room had a beautiful view of the cathedral. The room size was spacious with very comfortable beds and high end linens including bathroom towels which are not necessarily a given in hotels we stayed in Portugal (3,4 stars) through our many trips here. The staff were also very nice and the housekeeping excellent. We loved also the location, only minutes from the religious sites in a local neighborhood not along the main streets where most of the hotels are located. The breakfast was adequate only… even though free breakfast is advertised on their sites, it is 9eu per person. The juices tasted like flavored water, coffee from the machine is passable and the scrambled eggs were dry and tasteless. There are various fresh breads, stale croissants and some good jams and 3 types of cold cuts with cheese and a few other items with very limited fruits, mostly canned. I would consider their breakfast ok if indeed it was free, but not at 9 euros. My evaluation of their breakfast would not stop me from staying here again in the future.

“Second time around -- still divinely inspired!”

I stayed here in 2016 for five nights, and gave the hotel a very positive review. This year, I stayed for 6 nights, and am delighted that it remains as well run, friendly, clean and pleasant as it was 6 years ago. I think the best description of Hotel Anjo de Portugal is "comme il faut" -- everything is just as it should be. The rooms are well appointed, the linens high quality, the beds supremely comfortable, the staff solicitous and helpful but not intrusive. The breakfasts are magnificent. We ate in the restaurant twice during our stay. The food was very good and the cost / value ration exceptional. My memory might be failing me, but I seem to remember that previous, at night, the dining room was dimly lit with candles, whereas on this trip it was brightly lit as for breakfast, and to some extent that spoiled the effect for me -- but that's a small complaint. In 2016 I commented that the hotel looked brand new, despite having been built some years previously. Good quality fittings, careful cleaning and regular maintenance are important. Again, I'm pleased to report that our room was immaculately clean, as were the communal areas. Rooms facing the Sanctuary have fantastic views of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, and we particularly enjoyed being able to hear the Ave bells being run on hour and quarters. This hotel is a good choice for pilgrims wanting to visit Fatima. The hotel is on what I would call the 'quiet' side of town: the side of the Sanctuary with fewer hotels and restaurants -- the 'town' rather than 'tourist' side. However it's a 4 minute walk to the Sanctuary, down 1 safe, clean street and yet close to all amenities. A perfect haven of peace! Like everywhere, Fatima has been badly hit by Covid restrictions, and many hotels, restaurants and tourist businesses have closed since my last visit. I was delighted to see that Hotel Anjo de Portugal has weathered the storm, and I look forward to future visits.

“A Great 4 star hotel - modern, clean and welcoming”

We picked this place based on price and reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotel is super modern, spotlessly clean, great rooms comfy bed - a real 4 star hotel for a price of a 2 star. The staff were very friendly. Highly recommended.
