Quite and neat Riad. Sophisticated for a 3 star riad. I have enjoyed a lot staying there. Travelling with a friend. Staying in Riad Dar Ressam is a wonderful experience if you really choose to stay in Marrakech and feel the ambiance of the people's everyday life. Some people say it is located in a very labirinthic part of the medina, but beeing in the medina is like that, or you just choose an international hotel situated in the Hivernage or Palmeraie and use a taxi everytime you want to go to Jamma El Fnaa for a lovely orange juice. Staying there gives melts you with marrakchi friendly people. Simon at the riad is a very, very nice person and welcomes you with a nice smile. All the personal is very kind and not intrusive. Even if I can't remember her name, I would like to refer the kindness of the lady who cooked our levely meals. If you want to try real marrakchi food, try to eat at the riad. the food is excellent, not sofisticated, but real. We had the lovely gest of having rose petals on our dinner table one night. Breakfast is very nice (not so good note for the not real orange juice. with sooooo many oranges in Marrakech, it is a pity!) We certainly will be back, Simon.

We booked a transfer from hotel but because the driver couldn't locate the riad , we spent an hour with 2 local lads looking for it. No one answered the phone and it was not a good start to our trip. We booked a transfer from hotel but because the driver couldn't locate the riad , we spent an hour with 2 local lads looking for it. No one answered the phone and it was not a good start to our trip. However once we had located it , down a maze of alleyways which all looked pretty dismal , we were pleasantly surprised by the place. We were created by the owner and given a welcome mint tea . Our room was spottlessly clean. We were the only people there so wasn't too concerned about the lack of locks on doors but would have been concerned if others there as our door was left wide open by the cleaner everyday. Breakfast was modest but adequate with plenty of tea and coffee. We booked one trip through the owner which was more expensive than others on the trip paid as they had baffled with the organisers so would advise checking out prices first. However the owner was very kind to make a few phone calls on our behalf as we don't speak Arabic or French and followed up a query for us without any prompt from us. I would say if there was a group of you and you want to see the real Marrakech then this riad is cheap and clean. Personally I felt intimidated walking the route to main shopping area, maybe because we want in December and there wasn't many tourists, we were a bit of a target for the locals who redirected us the first morning in order to ensure we were lost and paid them to show us the way. I know this isn't a direct reflection on the riad but you need to be prepared for the area.neither the area or the riad would be suitable for people with mobility people's.

We arrived at this riad after being told by our taxi driver our original one was under construction. The place itself was lovely. We arrived at this riad after being told by our taxi driver our original one was under construction. The place itself was lovely. However on arriving at 1am on the first night we were greeted by large six legged creatures under our pillows who were not expecting us. The plunge pool is nice and cold but there are only 2 sun loungers on the terrace which is not great for a riad which houses 10+. The safes are also quite small and with no locks elsewhere there was always the nag that something may be 'misplaced'. Fortunately nothing was. The breakfast is simple but adequate. Overall a nice experience but think there are better riads. Though we didn't know what to expect as this was not one we booked.
