Japanese hotel located at the sumatakyo spa. Rooms with tatami were comfortable with very good Japanese dinner and natural hot springs. The hotel offers two bath - indoor and outdoor. A perfect place to rest before walking 2 km to the popular suspension bridge.

This traditional Onsen Ryokan is located in small village which is closed to the bus stop Sumatakyo onsen-Iruguchi. The Japanese room is quite large and so quiet. This traditional Onsen Ryokan is located in small village which is closed to the bus stop Sumatakyo onsen-Iruguchi. The Japanese room is quite large and so quiet. The open-air onsen is a bit small, but you still feel good and relax for this open-air onsen. The Japanese food was delicious but there was not enough staff to service when I had dinner in the dinning room, but many staff during breakfast. As this Ryokan is around by the nature and quite far from city, you have to take train from Shizuoka station to Kanaya station, then Kanaya station to Senzu station, and take a bus from Senzu station to Sumatakyo Onsen. You can get bus timetable at bus stop in front of Senzu station and Sumatakyo Onsen-Iruguchi bus stop near by Ryokan. I don't think the winter is good time to visit here, but the best time to visit here is during Autumn that you will see the colorful scenery at Sumata Valley Suspension Bridge. P.S. Attractive large ryokan with pretty garden. Reception staff were indifferent to our arrival, unlike most onsen ryokan. Attractive large ryokan with pretty garden. Reception staff were indifferent to our arrival, unlike most onsen ryokan. Despite requesting a non-smoking room, our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. Meals were good, but we felt we were rushed to finish dinner by the staff. I expected better service considering the price of the ryokan. The bathing facilities are very good. Onsen water is very silky and good for the skin. There are 3 indoor baths and 2 stone-lined rotemburo. Men and womens' bath switch every day so customers can experience all the onsen facilities - the temperature of each is slightly different. Very conveniently situated near bus stop.
