“Ideal location, ideal value”
We have stayed at several hotels in Ueno over different holidays, but Parkside Inn is our new go-to hotel for value and location. We have stayed at several hotels in Ueno over different holidays, but Parkside Inn is our new go-to hotel for value and location. Our room was on the 8th floor; it was spacious, comfortable and well-furnished; the hotel was quiet; blinds and curtains ensured a good night's sleep; Located directly opposite the park, and within easy walking distance to both the JR Ueno station and the Keisei Airport Express, as well as major shopping precincts, it is convenient to everything. A special thanks to Julia the concierge who handled all our questions with a brilliant smile and remarkable efficiency.

“Old school vibe (and prices)”
Park Side is 5 minutes walk from Ueno Keisei Station, so a great arrival/departure point for Narita airport. The rooms up on the eighth floor are spacious, wonderfully retro and comfortable. Park Side is 5 minutes walk from Ueno Keisei Station, so a great arrival/departure point for Narita airport. The rooms up on the eighth floor are spacious, wonderfully retro and comfortable. I later transferred to a modernised single room lower down to stay a couple of extra days, and it too was wonderful. Check in was easy and the transfer to the other room all arranged (luggage included) by a wonderful multilingual concierge. The rates represent great value for money. Ignore the moanings of a few people of proximity to the red light district - just use the front door which opens onto the pond. Highly recommended.

“Stayed for a week and liked it!”
Our room was small but quite comfortable with high-quality amenities and very clean. The location was great - within an easy walk to dozens of restaurants and about a 5-minute walk to Ueno Station and other nearby train stations. Our room was small but quite comfortable with high-quality amenities and very clean. The location was great - within an easy walk to dozens of restaurants and about a 5-minute walk to Ueno Station and other nearby train stations. Julia, the English-speaking concierge, went the extra mile for us, not just giving advice to our questions, but loaning us her personal umbrella for the day when it was pouring outside (she must have gotten soaked when she got off work). The front side of the hotel faces Ueno Park. The back is on a street that's sleepy during the day and a bit rough around the edges at night - but it's perfectly safe and you're out of it in a block or two. The wifi was pretty spotty (hence 4-stars and not 5 on this review), but that's my only real complaint. All in all, we had a very nice stay and would return here the next time we're in Tokyo.
