A really beautiful place to stay. Our room was lovely with lots of personal touches. We looked over a lovely little courtyard. Staff were really helpful and friendly. The only thing I can rate it down for was the bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied from the last people and there was a strong smell of damp in the bathroom- it wouldn’t stop me going back though the whole place is lovely and breakfast was outstanding

“Great for dog owners”

Great stop off point. Very welcoming to dogs with rooms opening straight into the garden. Excellent breakfast with a huge choice and again dogs welcome in the dining area so no need to breakfast in shifts. Staff were great and very helpful. Would definitely use again.

NB**Read the Terms and Conditions** My husband and I booked The Bird in Hand rather excitedly in February 2024 for an overnight stay for a close friend’s daughter’s wedding which was due to be held on Friday, 16th August. The hotel was also one being recommended to us by the happy couple! We booked a special offer including breakfast which was advertised at the time on their website. as “A prepay save with Breakfast in Luxury Double for 2 Adults” Cost £235.80 which, of course, as per the offer we paid at the time of booking. Unfortunately, due to no fault of our own, sadly the wedding had to be suddenly cancelled. I called the Bird in Hand to see if I could obtain a refund. I spoke to a rather abrupt man who told me in no uncertain terms that I could not have a refund as the terms and conditions of this offer clearly state that there is no refund on cancellation. I explained that the circumstances were totally out of my control - he showed no empathy/sympathy just reiterated to me again the T’s and C’s of the deal: “Bookings made on promotional, seasonal and advance purchase rates are non-refundable and non-transferable.” When I mentioned that I would possibly write a review he changed his tune somewhat and said that if he filled the cancelled room he would possibly refund some of the cost of the booking. The point of my review is to highlight to prospective customers intending to stay at this establishment to read the T’s and C’s as if you book to stay under a Prepay Save offer and then have to cancel you will not get your money or part thereof refunded. Incidentally a Twin Superior for 1 night at the end of August 2024 is advertised on a website today for £120.00 including breakfast - which is a big difference in price to £235.80 incl. breakfast which I paid under the Prepay Saver offer! I have to ask myself where has ‘a gesture of goodwill’ gone to these days?
