“A lovely experience”

I just wanted to give credit to the hotel, everyone was so friendly. The breakfast was really lovely and plentiful, they have gluten free cereals separated and bread on request. I just wanted to give credit to the hotel, everyone was so friendly. The breakfast was really lovely and plentiful, they have gluten free cereals separated and bread on request. Shout out to Kira who looked after us at breakfast, toasted my daughter’s bread for us. Chelsea at the bar was also so helpful when we needed somewhere to store wedding flowers. The only negative was the sofa bed was very uncomfortable and the rooms were very warm as no air con - but they did quickly give us an extra duvet for the bed so my daughter could be comfier. June was also a great help booking the rooms. Our girls love the swimming pool 🏊 Such a lovely clean hotel with great friendly staff :)

“Expensive but nice”

Stated for 2 nights, beds super comfortable, window in room opens so can get fresh air! Well stocked tea/coffee. Only negative on day 2 room refreshed but bed not made and no toilet tile topped up so ran out ! Breakfast buffet style , good choice .

I chose this hotel due to a previous positive experience with a Leonardo hotel elsewhere and because this one offered a pool which I thought the family would enjoy during our brief stopover. We were not disappointed by the rooms or the hotel facilities. The beds are very comfortable, the tea and coffee stations in the rooms very well stocked, and complementary water bottles is a nice touch. At check-in we were given vouchers for a complementary coffee too. The small pool was lovely. We didn't take breakfast as the other members of the party don't tend to want to eat much in the morning. I went down and got my complementary coffee while breakfast was on and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. My reason for not giving a five star review is the difficulty I had in obtaining accurate information before arrival. This was my first time booking for a wheelchair user, and although the website said the hotel had accessible rooms, I could not see a way to select one online. I was unsure if that meant they were fully booked and not available, or whether I could add a request for an accessible room in the 'special requests' box on the booking form. I phoned and the booking line operator was as helpful as he could be, but he wasn't familiar with the hotel in Middlesbrough specifically. He offered to book an 'accessible' room over the phone, as he confirmed there seemed to be some available but he also couldn't see how to select one on the website, but if I booked over the phone I wouldn't get my discount. I was about to go ahead when he described the room as being 'with bath'. I queried this as my guest wouldn't be able to use a bath, and he was unable to reassure me that he could book a room with a wet shower. I felt that I might just be charged more for a room that still may not be fully accessible. He suggested I call the hotel direct and gave me the number - a premium number. I tried to call and waited... and waited... and then gave up because this was going to cost me a fortune. As it was only for one night to break our journey from the south of England to Scotland, we decided to book standard rooms online. I did mention in the 'special requests' box that it would be preferable if one of our rooms could have an accessible wet room rather than bath if possible but this was not actioned. The standard room turned out to be a bit cramped for manouvering in the wheelchair but we only needed to sleep there for one night so it was ok and as we used the pool in the morning, she was able to have a shower in the accessible wet room by the pool. Then at check out I needed to pay for parking. The receptionist asked for £6, but my pre-arrival email had said £5 (as does the website). There was no argument - the receptionist put it through as £5 but also did not appear to think her information was incorrect (no self correction or apology). These little things marred what was otherwise a very pleasant experience.

Entered my room, checked the menu for room service, some items were available 24 hours and to call the number in the welcome letter.. there is no such number. Stayed here for one night, upon checking in, I was told room service would be available from 21:30. Entered my room, checked the menu for room service, some items were available 24 hours and to call the number in the welcome letter.. there is no such number. The menu on the QR code states to press the room service button on the phone.. no such thing exists. Called reception and then put me through to the bar with no answer then the line went dead. I called back to be spoken to by a different person who then said room service isn’t available until 23:00… what a joke! The room is basic, window doesn’t close properly, light fixtures are broken.. place is covered in dust
