“Excellent Mini Break”

I first stayed for 2 nights on the 23rd of May. I loved it so much, I came back the following week with my family. All of the staff from reception to restaurant were wonderful and the food was delicious. Really grateful for the extra kindness - I've suffered social anxiety for years and they made me feel calm, relaxed and confident. The outside pool was a real treat whether sunny or cloudy (although the lounger cushions could do with a bit of attention). Service in the hair salon was fantastic. A really excellent few days, can't wait to come again.

“A very relaxing stay”

Really enjoyable 1 night stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast package in a Culture Room. I called to make the reservation, and Rosa was super helpful. Really enjoyable 1 night stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast package in a Culture Room. I called to make the reservation, and Rosa was super helpful. She managed to locate a better rate than was showing on the website, which was also a plus. The spa and facilities were great, we arrived early and were able to make use of the outdoor pool. We had food at Yu for dinner, and really enjoyed ourselves. We then had some drinks in one of the public areas, before heading the bed. The rooms are spacious and tidy. The pantry is great to have on each floor for some cold drinks and sweets, and we liked the touch of the little shots of alcohol left in the room on arrival. All the staff we encountered were really friendly and helpful. A couple of feedback points for improvement: the pillows weren't great, and I know this is a very personal opinion and I'm sure if we had called the front desk they might've been able to do something but I didn't fully realise until the morning when I woke. There is also no provisions for snacks by the pool, and we were told to eat on the terrace for lunch. With the hotel being quite busy, there were no tables outside so we sat in a quiet restaurant with nice weather outside in our pool robes, and despite asking when a table outside might become available, no one could give us an indication of this.

We were at The Retreat for a large family lunch. Staff were outstanding, discreet but attentive and professional. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so happy to pay a service charge. After lunch we spent time enjoying the lovely garden, playing badminton and croquet. The reason I didn’t give 5* is because prior to the lunch I made numerous phone calls and left messages which weren’t returned.
