A spacious very well located hotel in the old style, typical of resorts like Douglas. Our room was large, comfortable and clean with a desk and settee; the decor is a bit dated, but in keeping with the character both of the hotel and Douglas itself. A spacious very well located hotel in the old style, typical of resorts like Douglas. Our room was large, comfortable and clean with a desk and settee; the decor is a bit dated, but in keeping with the character both of the hotel and Douglas itself. Good size well fitted bathroom and an attractive balcony overlooking an attractive plant filled atrium. Breakfast was good with a very good choice of hot buffet, cereals, fruits, pastries. The staff are friendly and helpful. Although we did not use them, there is a pool and gym.

The hotel was very nice ,I like the statue of Norman Wisdom .the room was lovely I love the view of the sea .The bed was very comfortable .I love the fridge & water & biscuits .I love the bath was separate from the shower The people were in the hotel were very nice .i love the breakfast the porridge was delicious ,a good choices of cold food & hot .Now the negative why it didn’t get the full stars .i didn’t like the room not clean unless you were there for more days than 3 which I only there for , i know that during the pandemic that was the policy not to clean the room but I would like the bin empty ,they say you can ask for it done but one day I did ask for more water which I didn’t get so because of that I felt I would not bother them to ask to clean my room .You can see they are try to do it up special in Sir Norman restaurant which is a bar too but I feel it is more a bar than a restaurant there was only bar food there except I heard on a Sunday you can get a cavalry , I got a curry there which was delicious & ice cream .It is near the Gaiety theatre , went to their musical We will rock it .The hotel not that bad at all not like some of the reviews like to make it up to be .So if you want a little bit luxurious the hotel is for you

The hotel stands in a super location on the promenade in Douglas, about half a mile from the ferry terminal. The front of the hotel looks great, but the rear, where the entrance to the car park is, lookedd grubby and run down. We had booked a seaview double deluxe room and on arrival were allocated room 112, on the first floor, and informed by the receptionist that this was the latest room to have been refurbished. We were really pleased with the room. It is large with good sitting area. The step up to the sitting area and the three steps up to the bathroom, could cause problems for some guests. The curtains must have cost an arm and a leg! The bathroom was large with a bath, separate shower and twin sinks. The large bed was comfy. There were 5 windows in the room, but only one was openable, and that only opened to about 150mm...not good for ventilation. There was a fan in the room. The housekeeping arrangements were explained to us on arrival, which meant our room was only serviced twice during our week's stay, but we could have had more on request. The tiny waste bin was next to useless. Im surprised there was no safe. The breakfasts were good, but the condition of the windows in the breakfast room were in a poor state. Not good to look at rotting timbers whilst eating your food. Much of the rest of the hotel needs a lot of TLC. Reviews mention the hotel refurbishment, but there were certainly no signs of that. On a couple of nights our sleep was affected by the noise emanating from the bar below, which apparently is run separately from the hotel. On the Saturday night at 12.25am the fire alarm went off. It seemed that all the guests evacuated as required but no hotel member was in attendance to give information or tick off the rooms as per the In Case of Fire instructions. We were allowed back to our rooms about 1am. A major problem with anyone being allocated rooms 110 or 112 is that the adjoining room door is only a single, non soundproof door. We could hear so clearly the guests in room 110. I complained about this to one of the managers, who, either didn't know her hotel, or tried to fob me off by saying there were two doors which should have a foam pad between....this is definitely incorrect. Surely the hotel should never be letting these two rooms unless they are to families or close friends. I sincerely hope my comments will push the management to implement changes, as it has the potential to be an outstanding hotel in Douglas.
