Given the reviews, expectations were not high, but tbh it’s not a bad hotel at all. Architecturally, the reception and main staircase are lovely. The room was fine as was the bathroom. Given the reviews, expectations were not high, but tbh it’s not a bad hotel at all. Architecturally, the reception and main staircase are lovely. The room was fine as was the bathroom. Clean and had what you needed, although had to request an ironing board. Breakfast was ok, cooked food was well presented, cold buffet was a bit limited. But all comes back to price and the hotel was significantly cheaper than mainstream hotels during a busy week in Harrogate. Parts of the hotel certainly need updating but if completed and properly marketed would be a good place to stay given location.

“Dad's 80th birthday”

My husband 14 year old daughter and my dad have just returned from staying here for 2 nights this weekend for my dad's 80th birthday. We had a family room and a superior double room for my dad. My husband 14 year old daughter and my dad have just returned from staying here for 2 nights this weekend for my dad's 80th birthday. We had a family room and a superior double room for my dad. Both rooms were very nice and comfortable. Family room was one of nicest we have stayed in.Hotel decor is very typical of what expect in Harrogate hotels. the corridors could do with a little tlc but it's the old buildings so what you would expect. Breakfast was a nice choice of hot food and cold selection was cereals and fruit and yoghurt No pastries which is unusual. We had a meal in the bar area the first night was nice for bar food. Can't comment on evening meal in restaurant as ate out the second night. There was 2 big parties staying in the hotel one was a Dave break and another travel holiday but it didn't impact us for breakfast. When we arrived on the Friday early evening there was a function going on which must have been going on a while and was still going when we went to bed. We couldn't hear any noise when we went to her but the only negative thing which wasn't hotel fault was about 10pm there was an argument/fight going on outside our door and we even thought someone tried our door. It sounded like a member of staff had come up.and said the police was on its way. At one point it sounded like someone had been punched/hit. We were bit scared to go out to see what was happening so we rang to reception who told us it was in control and all sorted. To be fair it did stop not long after . It did frighten our 14 year old daughter. Apart from that incident we did really enjoy our stay

“Disapointed”

Have been to this Hotel many times. It is a grand old building but this time the room we were given was awful. One tiny window so was Dark and dingy. Curtains were falling to bits and wallpaper peeling off the walls. We asked at reception and the nice young man put us in a much better room. Has p… lisää

Have been to this Hotel many times. It is a grand old building but this time the room we were given was awful. One tiny window so was Dark and dingy. Curtains were falling to bits and wallpaper peeling off the walls. We asked at reception and the nice young man put us in a much better room. Has put us off really . Shouldnt be putting people in such a shabby room. Staff always friendly. Needs serious renovation
