We had a brilliant stay. We were in a junior suite and had the best time. This was our second stay at the Exeter branch. We had a brilliant stay. We were in a junior suite and had the best time. This was our second stay at the Exeter branch. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble, from extra hangers to booking cabs! As well as a wonderful suite, the staff made our stay. Front of house Elise, India and Tobey all lovely. bar staff were friendly and made fabulous cocktails. Met a couple of housekeeping staff who had a cheerey good morning. Dhillon you are a gem, teaching my husband to make the perfect espresso martini for his mother in law for Christmas! Thank you, it’s those personal touches that will have us returning. I love the pool, nice to have a winter swim Improvement in the restaurant (2022 was dire), things are looking up in the restaurant. Booked to return next year

“Perfect city break deal ”

Booked their dinner bed and breakfast deal and struggling to fault it. The hotel is well located, close to the town centre. Booked their dinner bed and breakfast deal and struggling to fault it. The hotel is well located, close to the town centre. Inside the communal areas feel lovely and homely perfect for relaxing in whilst the bedroom felt like a calm oasis*. *We left our towel rail on so manage to turn it into a sauna! The restaurant is in a well designed extension and served a cracking breakfast. We also had the 5 course tasting menu with complementary wine flight. The food was delicious and nice to be challenged/not picking what to eat. The wines were delicious although the pairing 'notes' from the staff were a little limited. 'Champagne is delicious with cheese...'

To celebrate an Anniversary, we chose HduV in Exeter, as it had a special New Year D, B&B deal. A converted Eye Hospital, so full of character. Paid £20 for on-site Parking. To celebrate an Anniversary, we chose HduV in Exeter, as it had a special New Year D, B&B deal. A converted Eye Hospital, so full of character. Paid £20 for on-site Parking. Check-In staff were friendly and courteous. Room was fabulous (R. 308), top floor with views and 2 small balconies. Bed was very comfortable. Spacious Bathroom, but separate Loo was small, so would have been very tight for a person of a larger size. Bistro Staff in the evening were friendly, but not very experienced. Apart from the Maitre'D, the other 3 Guy's didn't have much of a clue about service. Food was excellent and the portion-size was good, also. We both opted for Salmon to start, then Beef for main, with extra portion of Carrots/Parsnips & Roasties, as you rarely get much with mains these days. For Pudding, I ordered Lemon Tart and asked for a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. When it arrived, however, they had put a scoop of Raspberry Sorbet next to it, without even asking if that would be ok (they were out of Vanilla Ice Cream). I didn't really mind, but would have been nice to have been asked. Breakfast staff were much more professional and caring. Continental Buffet was fine, but nothing special. I also asked for Eggs Benedict with Salmon - by golly, it was a big portion! A little too much hollandaise, but otherwise, absolutely lovely. Partner had Avocado on Toast, again, huge portion and very tasty. We didn't use the Swimming Pool, as it was only open 8am-4.30pm. Overall, the food was great and the Room was fabulous. Staff were good, but suffered with lack of experience. Would recommend if they have a special deal, but we would have been a bit disappointed, if we had paid full price.

“Disappointing”

After a five and a half hour journey to Exeter I was particularly looking forward to relaxing in the Hotel Bar and perhaps dinner at the hotel. After a five and a half hour journey to Exeter I was particularly looking forward to relaxing in the Hotel Bar and perhaps dinner at the hotel. Sadly this was totally ruined by the hotel hosting a Christmas Party for a local software company. The behaviour of which was not particularly becoming of a four star hotel, the language totally unacceptable. Whilst the use of the F word is common place these days and maybe expected the use of stronger more offensive words isn’t. Dog friendly Bedroom and facilities were super and couldn’t fault the attention of the very helpful staff member who changed the bedroom configuration. I had booked a twin room and this was overlooked, no apology from reception just a dismissive I’ll send someone up! Slightly disappointing experience. Previous stays at Hotel du Vin in other cities have been positive.
