Wonderful welcome to this hotel, Cosy reception area A lovely relaxing night away felt incredibly chilled after an afternoon of swimming etc . Cooked breakfast was served to the table lovely and hot . Room was beautifully decorated,and bathroom spotless nice fluffy towels. Beds comfortable but on the soft side but didn't bother me . Curtains are blackout ones, so nice dark room for sleep quality . Every member of the team I met was friendly and helpful. Look forward to staying again in the future.

“Really nice spa hotel in a great location”

Really nice hotel, with a great spa. Breakfast is really good and the Goodwood Estate is fantastic. We ate in the restaurant and the food was incredible. Location is perfect and the bar has a good selection. Rooms are fairly standard, but overall great value for money.

“Brilliant staff, fading hotel”

Firstly, the staff were fantastic. From every encounter with the reception staff to the bar or restaurants, they were young, chirpy and a credit to any hotel. Firstly, the staff were fantastic. From every encounter with the reception staff to the bar or restaurants, they were young, chirpy and a credit to any hotel. The room was great, we had a room in older part, but their were stains on the sofa. The window sills were desperately in need of a rub down a repaint, but it was the cobwebs which showed the outside hadn’t been cleaned for months. The bed was great, comfortable but the room was let down by little things- the light in the cub bird wouldn’t go out even when shut. The door had a huge gap underneath which let light and sound through. Breakfast was great, but under staffed. The team was hard pressed to deliver what the hotel wanted and it seemed everyone was running around after their tails. Dinner in the restaurant was a fantastic affair, but the seasoning from the cooking was off. The chief was very heavy handed with the salt which was a real shame because the lamb on the sharing board was perhaps the best I have ever tasted in a restaurant. It was pink, moist and absolutely perfect. The pool in the health spar was a bit rubbish, reception didn’t give you a pass key when you arrived and you had to find it out. Despite the program saying no classes there were lots of young kids. Overall, nice but the hotel fading. Such a a shame. The staff were brilliant.

The hotel experience did not entirely match our expectations. The mattress in the room was very soft with no little support and did not appear to be the sprung quality expected of a 4 star hotel. The hotel experience did not entirely match our expectations. The mattress in the room was very soft with no little support and did not appear to be the sprung quality expected of a 4 star hotel. The hotel had no alternative and a topper had to be added as a partial solution. We ate in the Butcher Farm Chef restaurant on our first evening and found it extremely disappointing. The table we sat at was essentially a home made divided shelving box with scratched glass top, with dirty clock pieces housed in it, with a taxidermist pigeon watching over us! The pork chop had not been trimmed and the sauce was too rich, whilst my vegetarian Wellington was soggy and half my plate was covered microwaved kale. When we mentioned this to our waitress, we were informed that the Chef said he was sorry, but nothing further was done to redress our unhappiness with the meal, as they said we had eaten it! The cost of the meal was equivalent to eating a 3 course meal at a superior restaurant. We did find that the breakfast was good, albeit our scrambled eggs had to be returned as they were undercooked. We swam twice a day in the Health Club pool, which was invariably very busy, with no circular lane system in place to ensure safe swimming and avoid everyone trying to swim up and down in their own lane in a crowded pool. We, as hotel guests staying for 3 days, were also expected to collect a health club card each day and leave our hotel key card. As the walk from the pool to the front health club reception desk is quite a walk down a cold draughty corridor, this is most unpleasant post swim in a robe with wet costume, prior to returning to one's room. Other hotels hand out a health club pass for the length of your stay. We enjoyed our stay in the area, but felt that the hotel did not meet expectations on a number of accounts, including the maintenance of the building (damp corridor by superior rooms and worn stair carpets).
