Beautiful views from the hotel. Hotel is a short walk to the town however you’ll need a torch for the walk home at night. The rooms are large and spacious however no kettle to make a hot drink …. this wasn’t unusual for the hotels in northern Spain. The bathroom was large with a good shower and separate toilet. The room was extremely clean …. excellent housekeeping. The town has some amazing restaurants and a great ice cream shop.

Yes this place can seem a bit of an oddity but we like it! Quite often it appears deserted but on our arrival there was a lovely lady to welcome us. Parking is free and under cover. Yes this place can seem a bit of an oddity but we like it! Quite often it appears deserted but on our arrival there was a lovely lady to welcome us. Parking is free and under cover. La Cepada is situated a way out of Cangas (which suits us) and has stupendous views of the town and the Picos from the rooms. The ten minute walk into the centre is a bit steep but the pathway leading off the road cuts off a fair chunk - not to be attempted in the dark though. We booked a dinner for 8pm and the waiter turned up about 20 past...this often happens in Spain but they do take it to another level here! As we'd booked half board we had a four course meal (no choice though) but the food was very good indeed, portions huge, and the young waiter quite charming. The owner is welcoming and takes much interest in his cuisine and guests and spoke to us a number of times. Readers do need to be aware this hotel is Spanish in every way so those seeking a 'Parador' type experience (huge breakfast buffet etc) will not find it here. However, if you speak some Spanish (surely only polite to do so?) I think you will be welcomed in real Spanish style.
